This is about 2 miles southwest of Louisville, and about 1 mile west of highway 287. Just west of the cemetery is the Aquarius Trail head. Although it is a new cemetery, it appears ill-kept. Debris that fell in a severe hail storm in August 2004 is still laying about in March 2005. There is a wooden pavilion centrally located for large gatherings. The cemetery has above and below ground interment, and ashes. The below-ground interment is on the sloping east side. Around lunch hour, workers will hide out behind the tombs and take their breaks from work. Hikers from the trail head are frequently seen. There is no security. The cemetery is laid out as follows: Followup! The following was sent to me on 29 Dec. 2008. Yeah for Lafayette! The Cemetery is owned, operated and maintained by the City of Lafayette. The city acquired the cemetery in 2001. There has been considerable changes made regarding the landscaping. The city bought a water tap from the City of Louisville and new sod was laid this fall. The City of Lafayette takes pride in this cemetery and hopes it will be a place of peace and reflection for families. Thank you, Susan Barker Deputy City Clerk / Administrative Assistant 1290 S.
