Society:
Hodgeman county was
organized on March 29, 1879, by T. W.
Pehman; James Gilland; J. W. Harlen; S. J.
Eakin; L. E.
Carter; J. R. Wilson; S. A. Sheldon;
Samuel Townsend; T. R. David; and Clawson
Parker. Named for Amos Hodgeman,
Captain of Company H, 7th Kansas
Cavalry, the legislature originally did
not include the "e" in the name, but later
it was
added. The county contains the
cities of Jetmore and Hanston.
