Junttila died Dec. 12th, 1919, at Eden, Wash.--a small community several miles up the Crooked Creek, much isolated from the outside world and can be reached only by a small fishboat in normal times. At the time of this death the river was closed with ice and the members of the family walked about nine miles over the hills of timber to Dahlia, Wash., for the boat to Astoria. The boat on the Columbia that took the casket back to Dahlia was the last boat on the Columbia for several days. Communication with the coroner at Cathlamet was impossible as the phone from Kelso to Cathlamet was out of order. Coroner refused to sign the certificate. No doubt but the man died of acute pneumonia as the symptoms as stated by the members of the family would indicate such."
