The Daily News-January 1991 HORNE, Doris Genevive Age 62, of Cathlamet, died at home. She was born in Billings, Mont., and came to Washington at age 6, where her family owned a bakery in Seattle. She moved to Cathlamet in 1965. She worked at the Wauna mill for 12 years, retiring in 1985 when she married Ted Horne. She and her husband had a vegetable farm and were generous with their produce to the community. She enjoyed gardening and farming and loved spending time with her large family. She was a member of the AWPPW and the First Free Church of Puget Island. Survivors include her husband, Ted Horne, at home; five sons, Jim Mjelde of El Toro, Calif., Danny Mjelde and Marty Mjelde, both of Longview, Brian Mjelde of Castle Rock and John Brockmueller of Toledo; a daughter, Marcy Young of Bellingham; five stepchildren, Tony Childs in Japan, Mike Horne in Louisiana, Dena Shelton of Castle Rock, Cindy Moran of Kelso and Kelly Horne of Longview; her mother, Sally Francis of Seattle; a sister, Iona Wilcox of Seattle; two brothers, Bill Beck of Sequim, and Bob Beck of Bremerton; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Steve, died in 1984. A service was held Friday at the First Free Church of Puget Island with Pastor David Gerlach officiating.
