Elks Conduct Last Sad Rites For Former Justice of Kentucky

The funeral of Philip Johnson Beard who passed away Saturday morning at a local hospital west held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of Hale & Bawden from Elks' hall, Stockton to Park View cemetery for incineration. Rev. John Troxell officiated.

Mr. Beard was an ex-senator and former judge of the state supreme court of Kentucky. He came to California three years ago and located at San Diego. Three months ago he moved to Lodi, where he purchased a 20-acre ranch. He had been residing at the Hotel Lodi prior to two days before his death, when he was removed to the hospital. Deceased was the husband of Minnie Beard, father of Margaret, Philip, Nancy and Lewis Beard.
