Grim Reaper Calls Merlyn Manning

Miss Merlyn Manning, a graduate of the Lodi Union High school of the class of 1915, passed away at her home in Tonopah, Nevada, Friday after a long illness. The funeral was held in Oakland yesterday and the body cremated at 4 o'clock. The deceased was the grand-daughter of Mrs. J. W. Hurd and a niece of Miss L. Hurd of Lodi and Mrs. Bossac of Stockton. Miss Manning was considered one of the brightest members of the school. She was assistant editor of the Tokay, and a great favorite among her class mates and all who knew her. The members of her former class and the alumni sent beautiful floral pieces to Oakland yesterday in memory of the departed one.
