Harriet Myers Obituary

Harriet Myers was born in Camarge, Douglas Co., Illinois, April 22, 1858, and passed to The Land of Endless Day on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 July 20, 1930 at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. S. Gordon.  At the age of six years she moved with her parents to Jackson Co., Kansas.  Her father served for a time as a soldier in the Civil War. 

On the 15th of June 1879 she was united in marriage to H. L. Heath, in Holton, Jackson County.  To this union were born eleven children.  Four of these, three girls and a boy, have passed beyond.  Seven survive.  All of these except one came to witness the final ceremonies, and he too was present with her last week.  The living children are: Mrs. E. S. Gordon of Bucklin, Walter Heath, Little Rock, Arkansas; Isaac Heath, Wanotte, Okla.; Mrs. J. A. Melia, Bucklin, Kansas; Cornelius Heath, Aurora, Mo., Mrs. Otto Bier, Plummerville, Ark.; and Mrs. Lester Reigel, Alamata, Kansas.  Besides these she leaves 29 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. 

At one time Mr. and Mrs. Heath lived in the home a half mile west of Bucklin, owning the land upon which the Bucklin Cemetery now stands.  Mrs. Heath united with the Methodist Protestant church near Aurora, Mo., in 1912.  Her life was spent in service for others.  She not only reared her own children but assisted in caring for four of her grandchildren.  Her life has been fruitful of good works.  These works shall follow her.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church in this city Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. T. V Kelly preaching the sermon.  Interment was made in the Bucklin cemetery.
