Colleen Frances Essex
b. 4-13-1911 Erie KS
d. 9-21-2005 Wichita KS

D/O  Mayme and Merritt E. Lowe. She spent her childhood in Erie and Chanute, KS.
Though we are uncertain of the details, as a young woman she traveled to
California. While working as a grocery store clerk, she met the grocery manager,
Syd Sacks. They wed in 1953, and she became stepmother to Michele Sacks. Syd and
Colleen were together nearly 30 years. After his death, she moved to Afton, OK
to live near her brother, Loren and his wife, Anna Mae Lowe. It was there she
met Loren's fishing buddy, Raymond Essex. She and Raymond married March 3, 1981
in Miami, OK and she became stepmother to Rayma Essex Korber. Colleen, Raymond,
Loren and Anna Mae spent many happy hours playing UNO together. Colleen and
Raymond were together until Raymond's death in 2001, at the age of 83. At his
death, she was a resident of Seneca, MO. She moved to the Kansas Masonic Home,
Wichita, KS, where she was lovingly cared for by the dedicated employees.
