Jefferson City News-Tribune, October 4, 2007, Jefferson City, Cole, Missouri Mrs. Thelma D. Cave, age 93 years, of the Wainwright community, died Thursday, October 3, 2007, at the Oak Tree Villa Nursing Center. Thelma was born May 8, 1914, in Thompson, Arkansas, the daughter of Rousseau and Ona Nell Goodnight Daily, both deceased. She was married on August 16, 1941, in Springfield, Mo., to Carl S. Cave, who preceded her in death on December 6, 1983. A 52-year resident of the central Missouri area, Thelma was a 1934 graduate of the School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo. She graduated Cum Laude from Drury College in 1939 and received her Masters degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1956. She had an outstanding career in education at the School of the Ozarks from 1941 until 1955 and at the Rolla High School from 1956 until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, Old Providence Cemetery Assn., Missouri State Teachers Assn., University of Missouri Alumni Assn., Drury Alumni Assn., School of the Ozarks Alumni Assn., and the Sigma Tau Delta and English Honorary Fraternity. Thelma was active in school, church, and community affairs throughout her life. Survivors include: one son, Shannon D. Cave and his wife Vicki of Holts Summit, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Jolie Dell Cave and Anne Elizabeth Cave. She was preceded in death by one son, Carl Michael Cave; two sisters; two half-sisters; and eight brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton, Mo. Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church or the Old Providence Cemetery Assn. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
