Jefferson City News-Tribune, December 13, 2001, Jefferson City, Missouri Opal B. Gathright, 88, Jefferson City, died Dec. 12, 2001, at Capital Healthcare Center. She was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Callaway County, a daughter of Arthur and Betty Rossen Wyatt. She was married in June 1933 in Boonville, to Leon Gathright, who died Feb. 4, 1986. She was a telephone operator and worked at Cheseborough Ponds as an inspector until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Dixie Community Club. A former New Bloomfield resident, she was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church for more than 40 years. She wrote articles about New Bloomfield for the Fulton Sun. Survivors include: one son, William Gathright, Jefferson City; three daughters, Phyllis Chenoweth, Fulton, Judy Linsenbardt, Jefferson City, and Marilyn Thomas, Camdenton; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association; or the New Bloomfield Christian Church.
