Jefferson City News-Tribune - June 19, 2000 Paul K. Herring, 79, Fulton, died June 17, 2000, at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born May 25, 1921, a son of L. Roy and Rachel Mary Davenport Herring. He was married to Margaret O'Neal, who survives. He served in the National Guard and the Navy until 1945. He then established Herring Foundation Forms and Excavation Co. and was a volunteer fireman for the city of Fulton from 1945 to 1987. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he was instrumental in rebuilding the present building. Other survivors include: three daughters, Katie Stafford and Sue Ellen Herring, both of Springfield, and Wanda Patterson, North Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, Walter "Chic" Herring, Fulton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Carolyn Raye Portell, preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Bob Guese and the Rev. Raymond McCallister will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation, Habitat for Humanity or to Otterbein United Methodist Church.
