Anna McDaniel Birmingham May 25, 1912 - October 24, 2007 Anna Birmingham, 95, of Vienna, formerly of Jefferson City, was born at Vienna, a daughter of James Albert and Launa America "Copeland" McDaniel, and departed this life at 10:50 p.m., Wednesday evening, October 24, 2007, in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Birmingham was united in marriage on April 28, 1931, in Pulaski County, to John Raymond Birmingham, and to this union one daughter was born. Her husband preceded her in death on November 25, 1944 while serving his country at the Battle of Metz during World War II. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her father on February 15, 1947;her mother on June 18, 1938; two brothers Frank McDaniel and infant Cornelius McDaniel; and four sisters, Lucy James, Erma Viessman; Allie Cox; and infant, Beatrice McDaniel. Anna graduated from Vienna High School in 1930 and worked with her parents and brother in the family business, McDaniel's Restaurant and Grocery. Following the death of her husband she moved to Jefferson City and was employed by the Federal Government. She was later employed by the Missouri Department of Revenue before acquiring a better position at the State Auditor's office in the division of State Agency Audits. Mrs. Birmingham was employed a total of 30 years with the government and at the time of her retirement she was assistant to the Collector of Revenue. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Birmingham include: One daughter, Beverly Lemberger and husband, Robert, Vienna; one grandson, John Robert Lemberger and wife, Michelle, Austin, Texas; one great-grandson, Carl Evan Lemberger, Austin, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Redel and husband, Owen, Jefferson City; and many other relatives and friends. Anna was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and loved and enjoyed all of her family. Carney David James Carney David James, 92, of St. James died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at the St. James Nursing Center. nbsp; Carney was born July 30, 1912, at Vienna, MO., the son of the late Alonza and Nannie (Snodgrass) James. Carney was united in marriage to Eva Satterfield on May 29, 1933. After the death of his first wife, Carney married Rena Burns Strauser on July 17, 1982. He was preceded in death by both wives, his parents, and one daughter, Frieda Louise James. He is survived by his son, Ronald James and wife Elizabeth of Columbia, Mo.; daughter Kathleene James of St. James; brother Travis James and wife Alma of Rolla; grandchildren Susan and Jason James of Columbia; two nephews, Dan and Randy James; a niece, Alma Jean James Pike; and a large number of cousins. Carney graduated from Vienna High School in 1931 and attended the Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg. He taught in rural Missouri schools for five years. Most of his life he spent as a farmer. After retiring from the farm he worked for the James Foundation in St. James for 11 1/2 years and then for the St. James Post Office for a short period of time. He was a member of the First Church of God and the St. James Lion Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and attending sporting events such as football and basketball games. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the First Church of God in St. James with Rev. Terry Robinson and Rev. Don Carson officiating. Pallbearers were Dan James, Don Hughes, David James, Randy James, Norman James, and Johnny Doyle, "Mickey" James. Blanche Lease Mahaney Blanche Lease Mahaney, 88, Belle died March 15, 2002, at her home. She was born June 22, 1913, in Intake, Mont., a daughter of Albert and Ethel Hursh Lease. She was married May 8, 1937, in St. James to Keep Mahaney, who died Nov. 3, 1991. She graduated from Vienna High School in 1931. She retired from International Shoe Company in 1976. She was a member of Belle Church of Christ. Survivors include: four daughters, Ethel Runge and Janie Snitker, both of Belle, Sandra VanHeukelem, Littleton, Colo. and Linda Ridenhour, Jefferson City; two sons, Albert Mahaney and Richard Mahaney, both of Belle; one sister, Betty Elrod, Erin, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Lucy Lurene Parker Helms March 1, 1915 - May 2, 2006 Lucy Lurene Helms, of Vienna, was born on March 1, 1915, in Melrose, Wisconsin, a daughter of John Wesley and Pearl Inez (Hayes) Parker, and departed this life at 10:15 A.M., Tuesday morning, May 2, 2006, in the Maries Manor, Vienna. Mrs. Helms had been ill for the past few weeks and had attained the age of 91 years. Mrs. Helms was united in marriage on May 19, 1938, at Rolla, to Francis Marvin Helms. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 3, 1999; her father on December 2, 1939; her mother on December 11,1970; one son, James Eugene "Gene" Helms, on March 11, 2005; one infant daughter, Dana Jean Helms, on October 7, 1952; two brothers, Lee C. Parker, on January 9, 1952, and Gayle Thomas Parker, on May 19, 1953; and one sister, Metta Parker Hilgendorf on August 21, 1982. Mrs. Helms was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church; the Rainbow Chapter No.263 Order of the Eastern Star, Vienna; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Coffey Brothers Memorial American Legion Post No. 12, Vienna; and the Maries County Historical Society. Mrs. Helms graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield in f 1936 with a degree in English and Elementary Education and later graduated from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, with a degree in Special Education. In early years she taught in Stoutland and Oceola, later for most of her working career at Maries RI, Vienna. She was a member of The Public School Retirement System of Missouri, and in October of 1962 she became a member of Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International of Key Women Educators. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Helms include: One daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and David Conner, Ashland; three grandchildren and spouses, James and Julie Kinworthy, Columbia; Michael and Debbra Conner, Hartsburg; and Angela and Robert Thompson, Clark; three great-grandchildren; Rafe Patrick Kinworthy, Caleb Michael Conner, and Sarah Lynn Thompson, and other relatives and friends. Maude May Gillispie Hutchison Maude May Gillispie Hutchison, of Lake Ozark Retirement Center, Osage Beach, MO, died August 14, 2008, at 3:45 PM at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 15 days. She was the daughter of Jesse Washington and Flossie Adeline (Terry) Gillispie. After the death of her mother, she was reared by her Uncle Henry and Aunt Jessie (Parker) Gillispie. She was married to Joseph A. Hutchison, son of Francis Tony and Georgia Ellen (Bishop) Hutchison on August 21, 1947. To this union three children were born; Mary Ellen, John Francis and Ruth Ann. Maude was born in the Bend community east of Vienna on August 30, 1916. She attended the Bend Grade School and Vienna High School, graduating in 1934. After graduation, Maude taught one term at the Terry School near Vienna. On August 9, 1937 she accepted a job with the Agricultural Adjustment Administration where she worked for 10 years. After marriage, Maude was a farm wife until 1973 when she and Joe moved to Brumley, MO. In 2004 Maude moved to Osage Beach, MO and on August 2, 2008 she moved to the Lake Ozark Retirement Center. Maude was preceded in death by her husband on November 26, 2004; her father on February 18, 1976; her mother on November 8, 1918; two brothers Sam G. Gillispie and Jesse Charles Gillispie; five sisters, Opal Shanks, Berniece Cahill, Adale Backues, Madge Backues, and Lillian Cook. Melvin Paul Terry Melvin Paul Terry was born on March 30, 1915 in Stickney, Missouri; the son of John Clay and Mabel Victoria Parker Terry and passed away in the University Hospital in Columbia on January 20, 1995. He had attained the age of 79 years. On January 8, 1943, he was united in marriage to Betty Eileen Bailey of Casper, Wyoming and unto this marriage two children were born. Melvin graduated from the Vienna High School in 1934. He then attended the Central Missouri Teachers College in Warrensburg for two years, then taught in rural schools before returning to the University of Missouri at Columbia from which he graduated in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He entered the Army in 1941 as a private and later transferred to the Army Air Corps which is now known as the Air Force and had attained the rank of Lt. Colonel upon his retirement in 1966 at Ent Air Force Base, Colorado. During W.W.II, he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, mainly as Statistical Control Officer in the logistic Field, but also served as Commanding Officer of Hdqs. Sqdn. both at Pueblo AFB, and on Okinawa at Naha AFB. While at Maxwell AFB, in addition to his regular duties, he gave lectures at the Staff and Command War College and also took charge as Athletic Director of Headquarters Squadron. The greatest pleasure for Melvin in his off duty hours was working with and managing Little League Teams and later Pony League teams. In the Philippines at Clark Air Force Base, the Little League Team of 1959 came in as the Champions, and again in 1961 at Rialto, California, the Pony League Team were the honored champions. Melvin is a past member of the Air Force One Lodge #889 of F and A.M. of Alabama. He has been awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Service and the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal. He is also a member of the United Methodist Church of Vienna and has continued to be interested in the young People and their achievements. He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, John Richard and Linda Lee Terry of Columbia; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Sue and Larry Coblentz of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren, Leah Marie Terry, Naomi Anne Terry, Travis Clay Terry, Dallas Michael Terry, Shanna Megan Washburn, Cassandra Lee Coblentz, and two step-grandsons, Russell Alexander Buckwalter and Erik Allen Buckwalter; his sister Hazel Prewett of Edgar Springs; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1979, his father in 1984, two brothers, Milford in 1983 and Levi in 1940. Funeral services were held at the Vienna Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 24, 1995, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Edwards officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Kenner Cemetery. Hutchison, 86, of Brumley, MO., died Friday, November 26, 2004. He died following a brief and sudden illness at his home near Brumley. He was the son of Francis Tony and Georgia Ellen (Bishop) Hutchison. He was married to Maude May Gillispie, daughter of Jesse Washing ton and Flossie (Terry) Gillispie, on August 21, 1947. She survives at the home. To this union, three children were born; Mary Ellen, John Francis and Ruth Ann. Joe was preceded in death by his father in 1967; his mother in 1938; two brothers, Francis in 1920, and Paul in June 2004; one sister, Olive in 1915; two sisters died in infancy, Jewel in 1915 and Majora in 1924. Joe was born in a log house, in the Bend Community east of Vienna on January 10, 1918. He attended Bend Grade School and Vienna High School, graduating in 1935. After graduation, he continued farming with his father on the family farm until August 1941, when he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was engaged in much major naval action in the South Pacific while serving on the light Cruiser USS San Juan, starting with the battle of Guadacanal in August 1942 and continuing on through the Marianas Islands Action in 1944. He achieved the rank of Machinist Mate 1/C during his tour of service. Upon discharge from the Navy in May 1947, he returned home and in August married his childhood friend and schoolmate, Maude Gillispie. They purchased the family farm from his father and farmed there until 1973. Their three children were born during this period. In May of 1973 they moved to a farm in Miller County near Brumley where they continued farming and working various jobs in the area until their retirement. Joe accepted Christ as his personal Savior during a revival at the Old Bend School House in 1937. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by: daughter, Mary Ellen and husband, Alan House; son, John and wife, Mary Elizabeth; daughter, Ruth and husband, Keith Pennock; one granddaughter, Susan Marie (Hutchison) Ackerman and husband Robert (Bobby) Ackerman, Jr.; one brother, Leonard Buel and wife, Velma; sister-in-law, Geneva (Keeney) Hutchison (wife of Paul); numerous nephews, nieces; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted for Joe at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2004, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Pastor Brad Burns, Columbia, officiating. "How Great Thou Art", "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond The Sunset" were sung for the funeral service. Charles Edward Buschmann Charles Edward Buschmann was born at Vienna, Missouri, on August 16, 1919, the second child of Joseph Henry and Elizabeth Hieman Buschmann. Charles attended Visitation Catholic School and graduated from Maries R-1 High School in 1937. Charles married Virginia Mary Wessels on November 11, 1939, at Visitation Catholic Church and they resided in Vienna for the remainder of their lives. Three children were born to Charles and Virginia: Ronald, Union, MO; Karen, Gerald, MO; and Dale, Jefferson City, MO. They had six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Charles entered the United States Army on July 19, 1944, serving in the 63rd Infantry Division during World War II. He earned the Purple Heart medal on March 18, 1945, before being discharged on January 19, 1946. After the war ended, Charles returned to Vienna and worked briefly with his father in the sawmill business and owned a threshing machine before employment at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, as a civilian. He worked there for 30 years and retired in 1979 from the Transportation Division. After retirement, Charles spent his time operating a small farm west of Vienna that has been in the Buschmann family for 135 years. Charles was a member of Visitation Catholic Church; Coffey Brothers Memorial American Legion Post Number 12; Fire Chief of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years; and the coffee club at Sally's Restaurant. Charles died on November 21, 1999, at Vienna of injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident. He was 80 years old. Earl Thomas Fennessey Earl Thomas Fennessey, 88, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at his home. He was born on November 7, 1919, in Maries County to Joseph Thomas and Katie Anna Stratman Fennessey. He was united in marriage on November 7, 1954, in Kansas City, MO to Clara Belle Watson who survives at the home. He graduated from Vienna High School in 1937. He was employed with Maries County Bank until entering the United States Army Air Corps serving in World War II in China-Burma-India region. He was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for twenty-nine years. He then worked for the Secretary of State's Office until his retirement in 1983. He spent much time traveling, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events, and enjoying his family and grandkids. Earl was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Helias Council 1054, Holy Name Society, and China-Burma-India Veterans Association. Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Dan Sauer, Jefferson City; Rosemary and John Berhorst, Centertown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Linda Fennessey, Jefferson City; Tim and Melinda Fennessey, Jefferson City; and nine grandchildren, Clarissa and Taryn Fennessey; Megan, Daniel, and Seth Fennessey; Katie and Jessie Sauer; and Lee and Brad Berhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillian Peniston; Marion Javery; Priscilla Byrd; and one brother, A.J. Fennessey. Floyd Lee Hollenbeck Floyd Lee Hollenbeck, born in Vienna, Missouri, on June 29, 1920, died at his home in Pacifica, California, on August 1, 2002. He was 82. Mr. Hollenbeck was the youngest of six children born to Homer Hollenbeck and Mary Lee Henderson Hollenbeck. Three brothers preceded him in death; Lawrence Marshall, Paul Smith and, most recently, Herschell Homer, who died June 16, 2002, in Salem, MO. Mr. Hollenbeck is survived by his widow, Fern Bacher Hollenbeck, of Pacifica, CA; Jane Creed, Oak Park, IL; and Gail Lear, Newark, DE; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Le Flore of New York, NY; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two older sisters, Isola Geraldine Petzold, Boca Raton, FL., and Gladys Marcelle (Bee) Hollenbeck, Reston, VA; and two nieces and two nephews. Mr. Hollenbeck attended local schools and was valedictorian of his Vienna High School class of 1937. When the United States entered World War II in December 1941, Mr. Hollenbeck was assistant divisional sales manager in St. Louis for a wholesale dry goods firm. He enlisted in the army in 1942, but just before he reported for duty, he met Barbara Neathery, who was modeling in a fashion show, and the two were married on June 13, 1943. Barbara Neathery Hollenbeck preceded him in death in 1972. During his wartime service, he was with the Medical Group Headquarters in Manila in the Philippines. He moved with his family to southern California in 1950 and settled in Long Beach. Over the next several years, he held various national and regional executive positions for sporting and apparel manufacturers. He was a lifelong Presbyterian and a Mason for over 50 years, belonging to lodges in Long Bach and, most recently, in Pacifica, where he was Chaplain of his Lodge. Mr. Hollenbeck was president of the Pacific Oaks residences in Pacifica. As a boy, Mr. Hollenbeck loved to read and, encouraged by his parents, he memorized poems by the great English and American poets, poems he could still recite in his later years. He also loved the plays of Shakespeare and remembered lines-as well as obscure Elizabethan words-until the end of his life. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 10:00 am at the Vienna United Methodist Church in Vienna, MO. Interment of ashes will be at the Vienna Cemetery in the Hollenbeck Family plot. Faye Lillian Humphrey Bremer Faye Lillian (Humphrey) Bremer, 71, Austin, Texas, formerly of Vienna and Jefferson City, died March 18, 1991 at her home. She was born October 5, 1919, in Maries County, a daughter of Walter W. and Stella Crismon Humphrey. She was married to Harold Bremer, who preceded her in death in January 1970. She taught school in Maries County several years, then moved to Jefferson City where she worked in the State Auditor's Office. After the death of her husband, she moved to Texas and was employed with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Austin for approximately 15 years. She was a member of Jefferson Chapter #496, Order of the Eastern Star for 49 years. Survivors include one brother, Guy Humphrey of Carson City, Nevada; and three sisters, Dale Graham of Kirkwood, Irene Richardson of Mission, Texas and Emogene Herrmann of Robertsville. Services were held the following Monday at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia. The Rev. Randall Hoffman officiated. Burial was in the Union Cemetery near Iberia. Berthal Richard James Mr. Berthal Richard James, 91, was born on March 28, 1919, at Vienna, a son of Thomas Albert and Ina Mae (Snodgrass) James, and died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in the Maries Manor Care Center, Vienna. Mr. James had been in failing health for some time. Mr. James was united in marriage on May 10, 1941, at Rolla to Hazel Esther Terry and to this union six children were born. He was preceded in death by his father on Mav 29, 1960; his mother on May 2, 1948; one infant son, Stanley Max James on June 23, 1957; one daughter, Rhonda Jan James on August 21, 1968; one grandson, Richard Horace Miller on October 1, 1994; three brothers, Elbert, Elmer and Eugene James and four sisters, Mildred James, Mabel James, Jewel Overleas and Marilyn Malsch. Mr. James was a World War II United States Army veteran and a lifelong farmer in Maries County. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Hazel James, of the home near Vienna; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Alice James, Vienna; three daughters, Carol Miller and Elaine James, both of Vienna and Doris Bates and friend, Ken Rutter, Mexico; one brother, Melvin Leroy "Bud" James, Fenton; one sister, Mae Bullock, Washington; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 12, 2010, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna with Rev. Richard D. Spacek, pastor officiating. Opal Genevieve Opperman Terry Opal Genevieve Terry, 73, of Vienna, was born on January 3, 1920, near Vienna, in Maries County, a daughter of Frank and Margaret Lumina Felkerson Opperman, and died at 3:45 a.m., on Sunday, February 7, 1993, at her residence in Vienna. Mrs. Terry had been in failing health for the past three months. Mrs. Terry was united in marriage on May 18, 1940, at Vienna, to Floyd Wayne "Brownie" Terry, and to this union three daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her father on November 11, 1977; one sister, Mrs. Esther Bernice Hoffman Grosvenor on March 25, 1982; one brother-in-law, Anthony Hoffman on April 25, 1973; and one niece, Janet Hoffman on August 25, 1967. Mrs. Terry accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Saviour and followed her Lord in Baptism early in life; she was a charter member of the Terry Baptist Church, Vienna. At the time of her passing she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Vienna. She attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College, Springfield and graduated Cum Laude from Lincoln University, Jefferson City, in 1960. She began her teaching career in 1938 at Enterprise School where she taught for two years; she then taught at Hughes Chapel School for one year before taking ten years off to be with her family. In 1950 she returned to teaching at Hughes Chapel School for three years, moved to the Bend School for two years, and finally moved to the Vienna Schools for twenty-six and one-half years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of Missouri State Retired Teachers Association and the Missouri State Librarians Association. Survivors include: Her husband, Wayne "Brownie" Terry of the home in Vienna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Edwin Honse, Vienna, Vicki C. and Leslie Tackett, Vienna, and Phyllis J. and Richard Christensen, Missoula, Montana; two brothers, Forrest Opperman, East Alton, Illinois, and Rev. Howard Opperman, Vienna; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; one great grandchild highly anticipated; and a host of other relatives. After resting in the Vienna chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Terry at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 9, 1993, in the First Baptist Church, Vienna, with Rev. Howard Opperman, pastor, Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna, and Rev. Robert Hodson, pastor, First Baptist Church, Vienna, officiating. Cathy Jones and Dennis Opperman sang "It Is Well With My Soul", Regina Koepke sang "Prayer Warrior"; and the congregation sang "Because He Lives" for the funeral service. Mrs. Ruth Hendricks was organist for the funeral service. Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery. Clay Shockley Clay Shockley, 83, Dixon, died March 11, 2002, at Missouri Veteran's Home, St. James. He was born June 15, 1918, in Maries County, a son of John and Oma Hopkins Shockley. He was married March 30, 1943, in Pueblo, Colo., to Fern Nelson, who died May 22, 1997. An Army veteran of World War II, he worked for Civil Service at Ft. Leonard Wood. He also farmed and raised cattle in Maries County. He attended United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Idelia Parker, Vienna, and Juanita Scotino, St. Louis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pastor Richard Parker and the Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Kenner Cemetery near Dixon. Wilma G. Snodgrass James Wilma G. James, of Vichy, passed away June 8, 2012 in Vienna, Missouri at the age of 93. Wilma was born in Vienna, August 5, 1918 to the late George and Phoebe (Walls)Snodgrass. Wilma enjoyed school and was an excellent student; after graduating from Vienna High School, she went on to the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg. After completing 2 years at Warrensburg Wilma Snodgrass was united in marriage to Charles H. James, three children were born to this union. She and Charles moved to her parents river farm located on the Gasconade River in Maries County where they spent many years raising cattle and farming the land; in the summer when the children got out of school and could help their dad with the farm, Wilma went back to school attending Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri until she received her degree in Elementary Education; armed with a new degree and teaching certificate Wilma started her teaching tenure at Tennyson School, a one teacher school where she taught all grades; after Tennyson School closed she then went to The Star School, another one room schoolhouse; when the era of one room schoolhouses was finally over, Wilma James took her education to St.James where she taught 2nd grade for 27 years; Wilma taught for a total of 32 years before she retired; she and Charles relocated to the Vichy community in 1969 where they continued to farm; they were deeply devoted to the Vichy community donating the land for the Fire Department; she enjoyed gardening, traveling, listening to the radio, spending time with family and friends and her beloved dogs Jake, and she had Jake 1, Jake 2, and Jake 3. Wilma is survived by her sons, Donn James and wife Connie, of Salem, MO; Darel James and wife Donna, of St. James, MO; daughter-in-law, Rita Schmidt, of St. James, MO; grandchildren, Craig James, Dawn James, Daren James, Derek James, Melissa-Riley, and Bradley James; 13 greatgrandchildren, a host, of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1982; son, George James in 1976. Funeral service for Wilma G. Hazel Irene Terry Prewett Hazel Irene Prewett, 85, of Edgar Springs, died December 21, 2004. She was born in Frank's Switch, Missouri on August 19, 1919, to the late John C. and Mable V (Parker) Terry. On May 19, 1940, she married Thomas Andrew Prewett who preceded her in death on May 4, 1984. Hazel was a retired Shelter Insurance Agent and the proprietor of Prewett Hardware in Edgar Springs, as well as helping operate the family farm for many years. She was a member of the Anutt Community Church and the Lenox Homemakers' Club. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Melvin, Milford, and Levi Terry; and two sons-in-law: Roger McAllister and Logan Black. She is survived by three sons, John Prewett, of Salem, Thomas Prewett and wife Donna of Thompson, and Peter Prewett of Edgar Springs; seven daughters, Mary Kay McAllister, of Piedmont, Betty Curtis and husband Jurl of Centralia, Rosalie Black of Edgar Springs, Ardena Mozingo of Edgar Springs, Martha Peters and husband David, of DuQuoin, IL., Victoria Prewett of Edgar Springs, and Sarah Cummings and husband Jerry, of Clark; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lucille Mannering, of Rolla, and Betty Terry, of Dixon; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. Allen Bray Allen Bray, 88, was born July 23, 1918 in Maries County, Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Bray, and died January 14, 2007, in Rolla. He was united in marriage to Dorothy (King) Bray on May 12, 1992. Allen was a member of Fort Wyman Baptist Church, as well as many organizations including the Masonic Lodge #94 of Vienna, AF & AM, Sword of Bunker Hill, Harem Order #73 of St. Louis, Shriners, York Rite, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Eastern Star. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma; daughter Joan Bade, three sisters Lillian, Ruby, and Olive; three brothers Anderson, Pete, and Thomas Bray; in addition to his parents. Thelma Josephine Dambach Bray Thelma Josephine Bray, 69, of Vienna was born Nov. 12, 1920 at Vienna, in Maries County, a daughter of Albert and Clara Josephine Snodgrass Dambach and died Sunday March 25, 1990 in the Ellis-Fischel Hospital in Columbia. Thelma had been in failing health for the past five years. Mrs. Bray was united in marriage June 30, 1940 at Dixon to Ellis Allen Bray and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her father on May 7, 1971; and one brother-in-law, Ora Hutson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna and the Rainbow Chapter Number 263 Order of the Eastern Star in Vienna, where she was a Past Matron and had held various other offices. Over the years she was employed at Phelps County Hospital in Rolla, Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City, the Wye Motel and was a sales clerk. She was a homemaker and housewife. Survivors include her husband, Allen Bray of the home in Vienna; one son and daughter-in-law, Albert A. (Sonny) and Judy Bray of Vienna; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Denny Bade of Vienna; her mother, Mrs. Clara Dambach of Vienna; one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Hutson of Vienna; four grandchildren, Byron Bray, Christopher Bray, Angela Bray and Timmy Bade; and one great-granddaughter, Brittany Marie Weed. Jefferson Woodrow Hutchison Jefferson Woodrow Hutchison, 80, of Vienna, was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Maries County, a son of Joseph Wesley and Margaret Launa Noblett Hutchison, and departed this life at 7:25 p.m., Monday evening, April 5, 1999, in the Maries Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Vienna. Mr. Hutchison had been in failing health for the past two years. Mr. Hutchison was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 29, 1984; his mother on Dec. 27, 1968; and one brother, Emory Laymon Hutchison on Sept. 10, 1993. Mr. Hutchison was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Vienna. He was employed by the Wonder Bread Company in St. Louis where he retired after 40 years of service. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Hutchison include: two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Raymond Hutchison of Jennings, Thomas and Catherine Hutchison of St. Ann, and Mildred Hutchison of Belle; three nephews, John Hutchison, Jr. of Jennings, Les Hutchison of Creve Coeur, and Lynn Hutchison of St. Ann; and many other relatives and friends. Hutchison, of Alton, IL, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at 9:30 AM at 84 years, 10 months and 2 days of age. He died of congestive heart failure after having Quadruple bypass heart surgery on January 16th of this year and never fully recovered from this operation. He was the son of Francis Tony and Georgia Ellen (Bishop) Hutchison. He was married to Geneva Mae Keeney, daughter of George and Ester (Goodman) Keeney on September 14, 1941. Geneva survives at the home north of Alton. To this union, four children were born; Georgia Ester, Charles Leon, Beverly Pauline and Belinda Mae. Paul was born in the Bend community east of Vienna on August 20, 1920. He attended Bend Grade School and Vienna High School, graduating in 1938. Upon Graduation from High School, Paul entered Coyne Electrical School in Chicago for a course on Electricity and graduated in the fall of 1938. After graduation from Coyne, he worked at various Jobs including an Appliance repair shop in St. Louis, an Auto repair shop in Vichy, MO, Baldor Electric in St. Louis, Granite City Steel Co. in Granite City, Western Cartridge Co. in Alton and Illinois Power Co. in Wood River, IL and Danville, IL. He worked for Illinois Power from 1949 until retiring as Plant Manager in 1982. Paul served 2 years in the US Navy, of which the last part was in the in the Aleutian Islands. He returned home in 1946 and resumed his position with Western Cartridge Co. Paul was preceded in death by his Son, Charles Leon who died in infancy May 2, 1944, his Father in 1967 and Mother in 1938, one Brother, Francis in 1920, and one sister Olive in 1915. Also, two other sisters died in infancy; Jewel in 1914 and Majora in 1924. Survivors include; daughters Georgia Ester and her husband David Greene, Belinda Pauline and her husband Don Kinnison, Belinda Mae and her Husband Derell Kaufman. Also, Granddaughter Stacy Linn (Greene) and her husband Sean Loche, Grandsons Bradley Thomas Greene and his wife Alyce (Moeckli) Hutchison, and Donnie Kinnison. By Leonard Buel Hutchison Geneva Lee Ragan Geneva Lee Ragan, of St. James, formerly of Vienna, was born on Aug. 25, 1920, in Maries County near Vienna, a daughter of Everett Oliver and Ada Mae Franklin Ragan, and departed this life at 9:05 a.m., Tuesday morning, June 5, 2001, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. She had been ill a short time and had attained the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 11 days. Geneva was preceded in death by her father on Jun. 19, 1953; her mother on Feb. 26, 1980; two brothers, Oliver Troy Ragan on Oct. 12, 1981, and Wayne Walter Ragan on Aug. 22, 1991; and two sisters, Louise Kaimann on Jan. 27, 1981, and Marilyn Dean McNaught on May 7, 1989. Geneva was a school teacher in rural Maries County for four years and then taught at the Missouri State School for the Blind for one year. After teaching, she was employed in general clerical work for twenty years retiring in 1977. In 1980 she moved to Vienna and then to St. James in 1991. Those left to mourn the passing of Geneva include: her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Daniel Winkler, St. Peters; one granddaughter, Angela Michelle Spain, St. Peters; one grandson, Timothy Daniel Winkler, St. Peters; six great-grandchildren, Zach McNeeley, D.J. Frances Weider Barnhart Frances Barnhart, 84, of Vienna, was born September 22, 1921, at Vienna, a daughter of Joseph and Margaret Schwartze Weider, and died, September 26, 2005, in the Kindred Hospital, St. Louis. She was married on April 21, 1949, at Meadeville, Pennsylvania, to Samuel Everett Barnhart, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 12, 1998; her father on July 21, 1973; her mother on April 30, 1974; and two sisters, Thelma Marie Weider and Kathleen Weider. Mrs. Barnhart was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. Before beginning her teaching career, Mrs. Barnhart was secretary for the Maries County Welfare Office and while living in St. Louis, was secretary for the Family Services Office. She then retired after devoting the next 26 years to teaching. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Colleen Barnhart, Vienna, and Tim and Ruth Barnhart, also of Vienna; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Ken Blake, St. Louis; one sister, Louise Ewers, Vienna; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, September 30, 2005, in the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna, with Rev. Marion Makarewicz, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Vienna. Bailey, 78, of Loose Creek was born Sept. 22, 1921 at Freeburg, a son of Martin L. and Eleanor (Clarkson) Bailey, and died Sept. 1, 2000 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. Mr. Bailey was united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1943 at Bonnots Mill to Elizabeth "Betty" Lock. He attended grade school and high school in Vienna and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1942 having received his degree in Business Administration. He later received his teaching degree also from the University of Missouri. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. He was president and owner of the Heritage Bank in Loose Creek and Taos for many years prior to his retirement in 1997. He had also owned and operated Bonnots Mill Oil Co. for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Fox. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; three sons, Kenneth Bailey, Mark Bailey and Norman Bailey, all of Loose Creek; three daughters, Kathryn Peters and Diana Eynard, both of Loose Creek, and Ann Bailey of Boulder, CO; one brother Arnold Bailey of St. Peters; three sisters, Dorothy Ortmann of Creve Couer, Jean Souffett and Colleen Cool, both of Lower Lake, CA; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Gladys Copeland Beam Gladys Beulah Beam, 79, of Bolivar, formerly of Dixon, was born April 6, 1921, at Vienna, a daughter of James Monroe "Roe" and Lucille O'Conner Copeland, and departed this life at 7:15 p.m., Monday evening, Dec. 11, 2000, in Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. She lived a long full life, in which she battled polio and cancer at a young age. She was able to live a happy life for all the years that followed. Gladys was united in marriage on March 15, 1942, at Fulton, to Delmar Ray Beam, and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 26, 1991; her father on Aug. 3, 1983; and her mother on Dec. 4, 1983. Gladys graduated high school in Vienna on May 25, 1939. She had worked at Fort Leonard Wood as a clerk and was a devoted homemaker. Gladys accepted Christ as her Personal Savior on May 16, 1945 in Arroyo Granda, CA. She last attended church at the Dixon Family Church in Dixon and Bolivar Assembly of God. Paul Edward Doyle Paul Edward Doyle, formerly of Maries County, died in a Denver, Colo., hospital April 23, 1981. Mr. Doyle was born Oct. 8, 1920 in Maries County, the son of' Edward Issac Doyle and Martha Elizabeth Breeden, the sixth of eight children. He was a brother to Anna Sagan of Farmington, Willard Doyle of Belle, Wayne Doyle of San Francisco, and Ivan Doyle of Columbia, Ill. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sylva and Marie, and his brother, Ernie. He was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church. On March 3, 1940, he married Lillian Alene Bray, also of Maries County. Services were held Monday, April 27, at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel in Vienna, with the Rev. Clyde Hendricks off'iciating. Interment was in the Union Hill cemetery, near Vienna. Mary A Duke Adkins Mary A. Adkins, 85, of Vienna died January 24, 2005, at Maries Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on February 27, 1919, in Maries County, the daughter of Carrell and Catherine Duke. As a child, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. She had a life-long personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church and Union Hill Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna at the time of her death. She was a graduate of Vienna High School. Majoring in education, she attended Iberia Junior College, which is now part of Drury University in Springfield. As a young adult, she married Homer Adkins of the Bend Community near Vienna. She and Homer spent most of their married life in the Bend community where they brought up their six children. In later life, they moved to Vienna, where they lived until their death. Mary was a wife and mother. She loved teaching her children, gardening, canning, sewing, embroidering, tole painting, and doing household and farm chores. Survivors include: six children, Layman Adkins and wife Millie, of O'Fallon; Mary Halbrook and husband Charles of Rolla; David Adkins and wife Janale, of Russellville; Helen Smith and husband Don, of Jefferson City, Herb Adkins and wife Debby of Vienna; Janice Schmitz and husband Dale of Loose Creek; 8 grandchildren; 4 stepgrandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 7 step great granchildren. She is also survived by two sisters in law, Ellen Duke of Belle and Rena Sherman of Vienna; one brother in law, Joe Copeland, of Vienna, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Adkins; her parents, Carrell and Catherine Duke; three brothers, Joseph Duke, Raymond Duke, and an infant brother; two sisters, Madeline Copeland and Virginia Hohenstreet, one sister in law, Betty Duke; one brother in law, Grover Hohenstreen and one step brother, Orville Crawford. Visitation services for Mary were held Wednesday, January 26, 2005 and Thursday, January 27, 2005. Funeral services were held, Thurdsay, January 27, 2005, with Rev. Cellis Crum officiating. Doyle Raymond Feeler Doyle Raymond Feeler, 82, of Vienna, was born March 5, 1920, in Maries County, a son of Arthur James and Olivia Snodgrass Feeler, and died January 1, 2003 in Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mr. Feeler was united in marriage on December 9, 1945 at Bronx, New York, and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. He was preceded in death by his father on October 12, 1923; his mother on March I, 1978; three brothers, Wilmar Feeler, Wayman Feeler and Ewell Feeler; and two sisters, Ruth Breeding and Blanche Gillispie. During his younger years he played baseball for Tom Coffey's home team, The Swap Rats, and upon entering the military also played for the United States Army team for several years. Mr. Feeler was a United State Army Veteran of twenty-one years and performed meritorious service in Korea, Japan, Germany, and the Zone of Interior. During the Korean Conflict he served three campaigns and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service under fire. After retirement from the military, he served eighteen years as a special agent for the Humane Society of New York City. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and the Humane Society of New York City. Survivors include: his wife, Anna Maria Feeler, who resides at Eden Park Nursing Home, Cobbles kill, New York; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Sherry Feeler, Schenectady, New York and Jesse and Bonnie Feeler, Vienna; one daughter, Mary Ann Cisar, Esperance, New York; two sisters, Genevieve Hankey and Hursel James both of Vienna; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Redel, 87, of Jefferson City, and formerly of Vienna, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on Oct. 21, 1922, in Vienna, the daughter of John Clemens and Roberta Vaughan Graham. She was married on Nov. 8, 1942, in Athens, GA to George William Redel. He preceded her in death on Mav 22, 1982. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Redel's Grocery Store, Vienna, from 1946-1959; she was a buyer in the purchasing department for McGraw- Edison, Jefferson City, from 1959-1984; and she worked in the admissions department at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, from 1986-2004. Mrs. Redel was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a former member of Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna; Eagles Auxiliary; Roscoe Enloe Post 5 American Legion Auxiliary; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Argyle Auxiliary. Hayes, 78 of Vienna passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Maries Manor in Vienna. He was born on July 17, 1922 in South Beloit, Illinois to Ray and Genevieve Belle (Hollis) Hayes. Kenneth served in the United States Air Force during World War II and Korea. Kenneth is survived by his sister Dorothy Hayes of Columbia, two aunts, Lucille Martin and Ruby Hayes, and numerous cousins. Mr. Hutchison died following a brief illness. Mr. Hutchison was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 29, 1984, his mother on Dec. 27, 1968, three brothers, Emory Laymon on Sept. 10, 1993, Jefferson Woodrow on April 5, 1999 and John Raymond on Nov. 28, 2003. Mr. Hutchison was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in St. Ann. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St.. Louis where he retired after 26 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Hutchison (Barnhart) of St. Ann, sons Les (Theresa) of Creve Coeur and Lynn Hutchison of St. Ann, and many other relatives and friends. Liz was born October 4, 1920, in Vichy, Missouri, a daughter of Robert Lee and Betty Lennaman James. "She had the constitution of wet leather," a friend once commented, "Tough, but compassionate." Liz loved flowers, music and literature. Her sewing skills influenced many nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carl Edwin "Cudge" Heck; her mother-in-law, Mattie Miller Heck; and her daughter-in-law, Paula Marchand Heck, who was the daughter she never had. Jewell Lorraine James Overleas Jewel Lorraine Overleas of Rolla, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 with her immediate family by her side in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was 87 years old. Jewel was born in Vienna, MO on November 27, 1921 to the late Tom and Ina (Snodgrass) James. She was a sister to Mae (James) Bullock, Berthal James, Melvin 'Bud' James and the following deceased siblings Elbert James, William "Elmer" James, Mabel James, Mildred James, Eugene James and Marilyn (James) Malsch. On March 30, 1940 Jewel was united in marriage to Elijah "Lige" Overleas in Rolla, MO. To this union two children were born, Gary and Diana (Overleas) Williamson. Upon the death of her mother, Jewel and Lige welcomed her younger sister, Marilyn James into their home to be raised with their family. Jewel was preceded in death bv her husband, Lige, on October 12, 1982, son, Gary, on April 27, 1970, sister, Marilyn (James) Malsch, on January 20, 1988 and great grandson, Trevor Williamson, on December 6, 1996. A long time resident of Rolla, Jewel worked at the Ben Franklin Dime Store for 17 years and was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren when they carne to visit for a month every summer. They had wonderful times exploring the farm where she was raised, fishing the Gasconade, attending the family reunions' and visiting with all of her relatives. Jewel and Lige created many fond memories each of their grandchildren will cherish forever. Jewel enjoyed the last five years living with her daughter and family in Scottsdale, AZ. There she had the pleasure of visiting with all of her grand children and great grand children often. Jewel is survived by her loving daughter, Diana Williamson and four grandchildren; Michael Overleas and wife Davina of Oro Valley, AZ; Tracy (Williamson) Halvorson and husband, Eric; Blaine Williainson and wife, Renee; Valerie (Williamson) . Bernard Jerome Juergens Bernard Jerome Juergens, 74, of rural Dixon, was born on April 30, 1920, at Brinktown, a son of Clemens August and Alice Agnes Fitzpatrick Juergens, and departed this life at 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 1994, in the Memorial Community Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri, following an illness of eighteen months due to cancer. Mr. Juergens was preceded in death by his father on November 22, 1988; his mother on March 14, 1960; and one sister, Launa Emilie Lewis on August 11, 1970. Mr. Juergens was a United States Navy veteran of World War II where he served on the U.S.S. Texas BB-35, and was awarded the Victory Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the American Area Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Medal, the American Defense Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Area Medal, and the Comentation Ribbon. He was life long farmer in Maries County. Parker November 26, 1920 - November 21, 2006 Lawrence B. Parker was born near Dixon, Missouri, on November 26, 1920, the elder son of Lee C. and Ethel Ragan Parker. His grandparents were John Wesley and Pearl Hayes Parker, and William L. and Lucy M. Feeler Ragan. The family moved to Vienna in 1928. Lawrence attended Clifty School prior to moving to Vienna. He graduated from Vienna High School in 1939. On May 19, 1951, Lawrence married Idelia Shockley at the Methodist Church in Dixon, Missouri. They established their home in Vienna after their marriage and have continued to reside in Vienna. Lawrence and Idelia had three sons, John, Richard, and James. Lawrence was a veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific with the United States Army. After his discharge from the army, he worked as a diesel mechanic for Greyhound Bus in Chicago, Illinois. After returning to Vienna, he worked for the State Highway Department as a core driller for the construction of bridges, including the Missouri River Bridge at Jefferson City. He subsequently became disabled, and after his disability, he was self employed doing shop maintenance and repairs. Lawrence had a number of hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, bee keeping, square dancing, and tatting. Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, Lee on January 7, 1952, his mother, Ethel on February 3, 1981, and his brother Lowell, in 1975. Lawrence passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City, just five days short of his 86th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Idelia of the home, his three sons, John of San Diego, California, Richard and Karen of Bethany, Missouri, and James of Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted for Lawrence at 11:00 am, November 24, 2006, in the Vienna United Methodist Church, with Rev. Karen Alden officiating. Loren Parker Loren Parker, 82, of Meta died Friday, April 18, 2003 at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born in Maries County on March 16, 1921, a son of Alfred and Bertha Woody Parker. On January 17, 1942, in Columbia, he was married to Ruby Irene Vaughan, who preceded him in death on February 16, 1991. He served as Postmaster in Meta for 42 years while also operating his cattle farm. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. He was a member of the Linn Masonic Lodge. Survivors include: three sons, Dwight Parker of Derby, KS., Douglas Parker of Chula Vista, CA, and Bruce Parker of Meta; one daughter Beverly Lemon of Fair Grove; one sister, Velma Mae Surber of St. Ann; one brother, Gene Parker of Jefferson City, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Virginia Ruth Parker Buschmann Virginia Ruth Buschmann, of Vienna, was born on April 10, 1921, at Vienna, a daughter of Thomas Bayard and Oma Ellen (Hutchison) Parker, and departed this life at 6:17 p.m., Friday, December 24, 2010, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. Mrs. Buschmann had attained the age of 89 years, 8 months and 14 days. Mrs. Buschmann was united in marriage on February 7, 1942, at Vienna, to Andrew Joseph Buschmann and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 13, 1993; one son, Michael Andrew Buschmann on January 5, 1999; two daughters, Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Renkemeyer on March 26, 2004; and Anna Jane Buschmann on May 12, 2007; her father in 1953; her mother in 1971; two brothers, Theron Columbus Parker on July 24, 1979 and William Charles Parker on August 26, 1973; three sisters, Aleen Louise Hopkins on June 11, 1988; Mary Lea Davis on August 24, 2002; and Bertha Arizona Parker on December 17, 1926, at the age of eight years; and three greatgrandchildren, Elijah, Chase and Cynthia Sneller in 2006. Mrs. Buschmann was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna and had been a schoolteacher for Wheeler, Flat Top and Visitation Schools. She later worked for Missouri Ozark Community Action as a Job Developer and a Head Start Teacher for over 40 years, retiring in 2001. Idelia Shockley Parker Idelia Parker was born on November 10, 1920, near Vienna in Maries County, Missouri. She was one of eight children born to the marriage of John M. Shockley and Oma (Hopkins) Shockley. She died at the Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton, Missouri, on December 3, 2012. Idelia attended school in Maries County, graduating from Vienna High School in 1939. She then attended Iberia Junior College. Upon completion of course work at Iberia Junior College, Idelia taught in elementary schools in the High Gate area of Maries County. During World War II, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she was employed in a munitions plant. On May 19, 1951, she married Lawrence Parker at Dixon, Missouri, in a small ceremony witnessed by her brother Clay Shockley and his wife, Fern. The marriage continued until Lawrence’s death fifty-five years later in November 2006. Three children were born to the marriage, twin sons, John and Richard, and less than two years later another son, James. Idelia worked first as a seamstress and later as an office secretary for Langenberg Hat Factory in Vienna. She also served several years as City Clerk for the City of Vienna. Idelia was a talented seamstress and fashioned her own clothes until arthritis made it difficult for her to continue sewing. She also sewed custom-made dresses for a number of years. Idelia also enjoyed quilting. She crafted full-size quilts and she especially enjoyed giving hand-crafted baby quilts when there was a birth in the family. In retirement, Idelia found time to craft jewelry including angel pins from old spoons and beaded necklaces from church bulletins. She and Lawrence enjoyed being part of a square dance club in Rolla as well as attending the Senior Citizens Center in Vienna. She was also noted for frying some of the best chicken and fish in Maries County. Church dinners for many years featured her fried chicken and, in the years when the church operated the food stand at the Maries County Fair, some persons wanted to know when her shift was so that they could come eat her fried chicken. Idelia was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church where she held several church offices. She also taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Oma; her husband, Lawrence; brothers, Oliver, Richard, and Joseph Clay and his wife, Fern; sister, Gladys and husband, Ed Jones and twin sisters, Emily and Evelyn. She is survived by sons, John Parker of San Diego, California; Richard Parker and wife, Karen of Tipton; and James Parker of Columbia. She is also survived by one sister, Juanita Scotino and husband, Frank of St Louis, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted for Idelia at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 in the Vienna United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Hargraves officiating. Idelia was interred next to her husband, Lawrence, in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Idelia were Tom Scotino, Joe Scotino, Peggy . Scotino, Anna Alonzo, Mary Biermann, Mike Biermann, Jason Reeves and Barry Hutchison. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Scotino, Frank Charleston and Max John. Martha Isabelle JenningsMartha Isabelle Roberson Jennings January 25, 1923 - September 19, 2019 Martha Isabelle Jennings, of Dixon, was born on January 25, 1923, near Hayden, in Maries County, a daughter of Glen and Stella Eliza Frances (Eads) Roberson, and departed this life at 9:54 a.m., on Thursday, September 19, 2019, in Maries Manor Care Center, Vienna. She had attained the age of 96 years, 7 months, and 24 days. Martha was united in marriage on November 18, 1939, at Vienna, to Chester Wesley Jennings, and to this union, three children were born. She was baptized early in life and was a member of the Kenner Church of God, near Dixon, where she was a willing worker and helper for any church activity for most of her life. During her working life, Martha had owned and operated the Kurly Lox Beauty Shop, had worked at Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, then was employed at Cheseborough Ponds, Jefferson City, for eighteen plus years, prior to her retirement in 1985, and then helping on the family farm. She especially enjoyed couponing, growing flowers, gardening, Hummingbirds, her cats, and drinking a cold Dr. Pepper. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Jennings include: Her two daughters, Carolyn Sue Boroughf and husband, Holmes, of Brentwood, and Brenda Elaine Tyler and husband, Charles, of Dixon; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, with greats and great-greats as well; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, on September 5, 1991; her son, Larry Chester Jennings, on May 26, 2012; one granddaughter, Tracy Renee Jennings, February 18, 1974; one grandson, Benjamin Holmes Boroughf, on July 17, 1999; her father, Glen, on October 10, 1940; her mother, Stella, on March 1, 1968; her four brothers, George Thomas Roberson on November 3, 1952, Chester Franklin Roberson on March 10, 1916, Kenneth Monroe Roberson on April 11, 1998, and Lloyd Bluford Roberson in 1996; and her puppy dog, Randy. Visitation for Mrs. Martha Jennings will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in the Kenner Church of God, 17996 Maries Road 505, Dixon, Missouri 65459, with her funeral services following at 12 Noon in the Church with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Interment will be next to her husband and family in the Kenner Cemetery, near Dixon, by Birmingham-Martin in Vienna. Pallbearers for Mrs. Jennings will be Terry Tyler, Shawn Jennings, Helen Jennings, Carl Roberson, William Roberson, and Jim Schatzer. Honorary pallbearers are Travis Tyler and Gary Cummings. Box 250, Vienna, Missouri 65582. Ralph Warren Thompson Ralph Warren Thompson, 86, of Willard, passed away at 12:55 PM Saturday, September 22, 2007 at home. He was born September 11, 1921, in Dixon, Mo. to J. Ray and Laura Thompson. He was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II, a retired rural letter carrier and a member of First Bapt. Church of Willard. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death, Lee Hayden, Val Gene and Ellis. He is survived by his wife Lillian of 60 years; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Don Robertson of Rolla, Shirley and Dave Swain of Union; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Sidney; and sisters Dean Viles, Katheryn Sloan and Donna Turner. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday September 26, 2007 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Family will receive visitors between 9 and 10 am. Immediately before the funeral service. Burial will be at 1:30 PM in Kenner Cemetery.
