Norma Doris Conley Norma Doris Conley, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Conley of Paris died last Friday in the Woodland hospital at Moberly where she had been taken the previous week for an emergency operation for appendicitis. Peritonitis followed the operation. Norma Doris was 6 years old, one of the most lovable and apparently one of the sturdiest children in the town. The entire community was saddened by her untimely death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. H. M. Hunt at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, with burial in Walnut Grove. A small yet especially bright October noon spilled its rays last Saturday night in union with the tears of the community as all visited the bier of our lovely little pal and friend Norma Doris Conley. Back, yet it was impossible for us to realize, on of the favorite children of Paris could not smile again. Norma Doris was life to the brim and it took more than it’s allotted to the ordinary human to still that pleasing greeting. Daily with her little sister this child passed from home down Main Street to her Daddies restaurant and folks would invariably turn to watch them go by. And at the start of school the smaller sister would sit and watch for the coming of her older sister perhaps intuition which children have made the smaller child, Carroll wary. As time goes on we too will watch the horizon over the hill to the schoolhouse in hopes of another glimpse of this lovely little creature and departed friend of ours.
