Mrs. Catharine Davis "Mrs. S. H. Davis died on the 5th inst., of consumption, aged about 40 years. She has been a great sufferer, but bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude and resignation." "Mrs. Catharine Davis, wife of Silas Davis, of this vicinity, died about 10 o'clock last Sunday morning, of that fell destroyer, consumption, in the 41st year of her age. She leaves a husband and two children and many friends to mourn her departure. She was a daughter of Joseph W. Helm, and had for many years been a consistent member of Christian Church. Was a most excellent Christian woman and has gone to reap the reward of the righteous-- Her funeral was preached by Eld. J.W. Mountjoy, to a large audience of sorrowing and sympathizing friends and relatives." Note: The names of Catherine's two daughters were Mollie and Susan Stella Davis.
