Death Claims G. A. Quick, 84 Aged Monroe City Man Dies Today; Ill 3 years Monroe City, Mo., Oct 29, 1935 Gustaf Alfred Quick, aged 84 years and four months, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning in home in this city, following three years illness. A native of Switzerland, he was born June 29, 1851, a son of Carl and Fredericka Quick. When 18, he came to the United States and located at Galva, Ill., and on December 24, 1904 was married in Illinois to Miss Annie Mathews. About 28 years ago the family removed to this vicinity where they became prominent, and Mr. Quick was engaged in farming until 10 years ago when he retired and located at Monroe City. He was a member Of the Lutheran church at Altoona, Ill. During his residence he became widely known and was honored by his friends. Surviving are his wife; seven children: Ross Quick of Anaconda, Mont; Mrs. Rachael Byers of Chicago Ill., Mrs. Grace Matson of Detroit, Mich., Miss Jessie Quick of St. Louis; Mrs. Lenora Green of Chicago, Theodore Quick of Maywood, Ill., Morris Quick of Chicago, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Ida Johnson of Altoona, Ill., four brothers, Claus of Walaga, Ill., Andrew of Altoona, Ill., Otto of Galesburg, Ill., and August Quick of South Dakota, eight grandchildren. The remains were removed to Wilson Brothers funeral home for preparation. Funeral arrangements have not been made awaiting the arrival of children from a distance.
