Octavia (Dooley) Henderson Mrs. Eugene Henderson, 81, formerly of the Goss neighborhoods, died Friday morning at the home of her son, Dwight Henderson, at Monroe City. The former Miss Octavia Dooley, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Polk Dooley and was born near Stoutsville. Surviving are these children, Dwight and Herbert Henderson, Monroe City, Donald Henderson of Topeka, Kansas, Denton Henderson of Independence, Kansas, Mrs. Earl (Dorothy) Swearengen of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Leamon (Daisy) Watts, Monline, Ill., eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Barney and Mrs. Tom (Nell) Anderson of Paris, and many other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday at Monroe City with Rev. Dean Lierle officiating, with burial at Monroe City. Mr. Henderson died in 1944. One son, Duard Henderson, for many years the general store operator at Florida, is also deceased. Funeral Rites For Mrs. J. E. Henderson Mrs. Octavia Dooley Henderson, 81, a life long resident of Monroe county, died Friday morning, June 28, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Henderson, with whom she had lived for the past 20 months. She had been ill for the past two years. Mrs. Henderson was born on a farm near Goss in Monroe county, the daughter of James Polk and Sarah E. Poage Dooley. She was a Baptist by faith. She was married to J. E. Henderson December 18, 1897, who preceded her in death in 1944. She was also preceded in death by a son, Decard, and five brothers. Survivors are four sons, Dwight Henderson and Herbert E. Henderson of Monroe City, L. D. Henderson of Independence, Kan., and Donald P. Henderson of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Dorothy) Swearengen of Amarillo, Tex., and Mrs. Leaman (Daisy) Watts of Moline, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Nell Anderson and Mrs. Fred Barney, both of Paris; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 30, at two o’clock in the Garner funeral home, with the Rev. Deane K. Lierle officiating. Burial was in St. Jude’s cemetery.
