John Edward Jones   J. E. Jones, 75 years of age, died at his home 2523 East Seventh street at 2 o’clock on Saturday morning. The end came after three days of illness, following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Jones moved to Oklahoma in 1903, residing at Coweta until last year, when he came to Tulsa. Mr. Jones was born at Nantglyn, Denbyshire, Wales, on January 1, 1844. He came to this country at the age of five years, settled in New York state and later moved to Wisconsin from where he entered the U. S. military service in Battery B., 3rd Battalion, First Wisconsin artillery and where he served three years and six months during the Civil War. He removed to Missouri in 1869 where he lived for 34 years in Monroe County at which place he married Miss Sarah Turner, May 23, 1870. To this union ten children were born, seven of whom are living and 15 grandchildren. He has since been a resident of Tulsa where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. George M. Dunaway at 2523 East Seventh street. He was a member of the local G. A. R. He is survived by a widow, one son, J. S. Jones of Haskell and six daughters, Mrs. George Dunaway, Tulsa, Mrs. A. R. Shults, Coweta, Mrs. W. A. McCord of Haskell, Mrs. H. T. Scobee of Paris, Mo., Mrs. E. F. Clarke at Monroe City, Mo., and Mrs. W. P. Rogers of Perry, Mo. His son, J. S. Jones and daughters, Mrs. W. A. McCord, Mrs. A. R. Shults and Mrs. Geo. M. Dunaway were all at his bedside when he passed away. The funeral will take place at Coweta, on Sunday.
