Dollie S. Leavitt Dies at age 86

Dollie Susan Leavitt, 86 died October 14. Funeral Services Thursday, October 16 at Smith's Newberg Chapel Rev. Donald Leavitt, her grandson, officiated.  Interment was at Friends Cemetery in Newberg.  She was born January 23, 1872 in Stoutsville, MO to George and Elizabeth Major Hardwick.  She had resided in Newberg for 83 years having arrived in 1875.  She married Charles J. Leavitt January 23, 1893 in Newberg, OR.
She was a charter member of the First Christian Church in Newberg.
Her husband died May 24, 1955, and she is survived by two sons Teddy W., and Linden G. Leavitt, eight grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren. (Source: Extract from The Newberg Graphic, Newberg, OR dtd October 23, 1958)
