John T. Lighter Well-Known Minister Dead. Former Washingtonian Succumbs at His Home in Monroe City. Word has been received in this city of the death of Rev. John T. Lighter, formerly of Washington, at Monroe City, Mo., on October 15, after a long illness. Mr. Lighter was prominently identified with the building up of the District during the regime of Gov. Alex. Shepherd, and was the intimate friend of many of the distinguished Washingtonians of that time. He moved to Missouri about twenty years ago, where he has since made his home. Mr. Lighter had been in ill health for several months prior to his death. He is survived by a widow and five children, all of whom are grown. His remains were interred in the cemetery at Monroe City. Mr. Lighter was connected with the Methodist Episcopal Church in this city, and was closely identified with the interest of Hamline congregation.
