St. Louis Christian Advocate, August 21, 1878 Mollie E. Carroll was born February 14, 1861; united with the M. E. Church, South, November 23, 1873, and died of consumption in Monroe City, Mo., July 2, 1878. Naturally cheerful, she enjoyed life, but when she saw there was no hope of her recovery, after a brief struggle, she gave up friends and loved ones and patiently submitted to God’s will. The last few days of her life she was very nervous, and nothing seemed so readily to call back her wandering mind as the singing of same favorite song. Almost instantly she would become quiet and repeat the words in a whisper, and sometimes conclude with a prayer. She prayed much, and often expressed a willingness to die. When death had laid his hand upon her she was asked if she was willing to go. “Yes, more than willing,” was her reply. O how completely Jesus saves! May God comfort her widowed mother and surviving sister.
