Edith (Jones) Scobee Mrs. H. T. Scobee Died Saturday Had Spent Entire Life in Monroe County Mrs. H. Thomas Scobee, prominent Monroe County woman, died at the family home east of Paris Saturday afternoon, following a stroke of apoplexy suffered five weeks ago. She was 66 years of age. Mrs. Scobee was born at Santa Fe, May 27, 1873, and had spent all of her life in Monroe County. She was Miss Edith Jones before her marriage to Mr. Scobee on December 24, 1897, and as a young woman taught a number of years in the schools of Monroe County. Surviving with the husband are a son and two daughters, Prof. Russell T. Scobee, superintendent of public schools in Jefferson City, Mrs. D. D. Henderson of Stoutsville, and Mrs. Leon Conley of Paris. She is survived also by four sisters, one brother and five grandchildren. She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church since early life. The funeral was held at Pleasant Grove Church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Scobee family cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Henderson and Mrs. Herbert Henderson of Monroe City attended the services. Note 1: Written date July 15, 1939. Tom Scobee died at her home east of Paris Saturday afternoon from the effects of a stroke of paralysis she suffered several weeks ago. The funeral was held at Pleasant Grove, Monday afternoon, with a discourse by Rev. Roswell Henderson. Mrs. Scobee, the former Edith Jones, was 66 years old and was married to Mr. Scobee 42 years ago. She was a devout member of the Presbyterian church and a woman who measured up to very high standards in home and community. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Leon Conley and Mrs. Duard D. Henderson, and one son, Superintendent Russell T. Scobee of the Jefferson City schools. The funeral was largely attended. Burial was in the Scobee cemetery.
