In Memory of Robert Scobee Robert Scobee was born near Winchester, Ky., May the 6th, 1835. He moved to the state of Missouri when two years of age. He was married to Miss Mary A Smith Nov. 27, 1856. To this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. The other children are Jas. W. Scobee, J. S. Scobee, A. W. Scobee, Mrs. T. W. Crigler, H. T. Scobee, G. S. Scobee, and Ely Scobee. He is survived by the above named with the exception of his wife, Mary A. Scobee who passed away June 8, 1896 and the oldest son, Jas. W. Scobee, who died October 13, 1912. Robert Scobee was one of a family of twelve children. All preceded him in death except two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Utterback and Mrs. America Crawford, both of near Greenlawn, Ralls, County. Besides his six children he leaves 18 grand children, 6 great grand children and a host of nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews and friends to mourn his departure. Thirty five years ago “Uncle Bob” Scobee accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the M. E. Church, South. For over three years he had been in declining health and suffered a stroke of paralysis November 17, 1919, which rendered him a helpless invalid. All this he bore with patience and Christian fortitude. He departed this life September 1, 1920, age 85 years, 3 months and 25 days. Uncle Robert Scobee is Dead Robert Scobee, aged 85 years, died at the home of his son, H. T. Scobee, east of Paris, Wednesday afternoon. The funeral will be held at Pleasant Hill at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon. Though a native of Kentucky, Uncle Bob was one of the pioneer citizens of Monroe county and was a man whose rugged character and positive influence had been a real asset to those among whom he lived. He is survived by five sons and one daughter – J. S., A. W., H. T., J. S., and Ely Scobee and Mrs. Wilson Crigler.
