Mrs. Susan Hampton, 93, Dies at Monroe Funeral Services will be Thursday Morning Monroe City, Mo., October 30, 1935 Mrs. Susan Caroline Hampton, 93 years, 2 months, and 3 days of age, died at her home southeast of here early this morning following several years’ illness. A daughter of the late Judge L. and Teresa Leake Hardy, Mrs. Hampton was born August 27, 1843, near Cincinnati in Saline township, Ralls county. She was married January 21, 1873, to Ezra S. Hampton who, with four children, preceded her in death. She was a devout member of the Catholic church. Surviving are two children, Miss Lucy Hampton, at home, and George L. Hampton, Sr., of this community; a brother, Hilera R. Hardy, of Hannibal; a sister, Mrs. Teresa J. Coy, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two half-brothers, Dr. Joseph Hardy, of St. Louis and John Hardy of this city; two half-sisters, Mrs. Hattie T. Bell, of St. Louis and Sister Mary Antonella, of Loretta, Ky. Mrs. Hampton also was mother to a granddaughter, Mrs. Caroline Davis, daughter of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Lee Ely. The remains were removed to Wilson’s funeral home. The funeral will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic church here at 10 o’clock Thursday morning.
